Writing a research paper is a complicated task. Make sure you plan your time wisely.

Step one : decide what to write about

Deciding on a specific topic for an essay can be difficult.  These guides will help you focus on a topic. 

Step two : develop a thesis statement

Once you have determined your topic, you will need to write a thesis statment.

Step six : format your paper

Your instructor may require you to format your paper in a particular style, check with them.  If your intructor does not have a preference, choose a style (APA and MLA are the most common) and use it to format your paper and citations.
