Why e-books?

Why e-books?

E-books: also called electronic books or digital books or online books.

Advantages:

  • e-books can be accessed 24/7, except when checked out by other users
  • e-books can be accessed from the Library, computer labs, or at home with your Student Computer Account (student ID and password)
  • many e-books can be downloaded and read from your mobile devices, i.e. iphone, ipad, etc.
  • contents of e-books are fully text searchable
  • no overdue late charges!

Catalogue Search

This box will limit your search to E-books available through Camosun College.

This search will only find online books.  You are searching Title, Author, Subject Headings and other words in the record that describes the book.

If you want to search within the text of a book or a collection of books, go to the site of the e-book provider, e.g. eBrary, EBSCOHost etc., and use their search function.

Clues in the Catalog

In our catalogue you will see icons that help you figure out what is an e-book and how to get to it:

= an e-book

= a paper book (if you searched for only ebooks there will be a link within the record to an electronic copy)

= etext (text but not the equivalent of a published book)
